CHARLEEN BEARD // director

Charleen holds a Masters Degree in Music Education, Bachelor Degrees in both Music and Education, an ARCT in piano, and a Grade 9 Vocal Performance Certificate from the Royal Conservatory of Music. She is the Director at Lippert Music Centre, established in 1957 and has had extensive experience teaching in both private and group settings, including teaching with the TDSB. As a teacher, Charleen understands and enjoys working with, all levels of musicians. Her philosophy is that every person has the potential to learn and develop fine musicianship all while having fun. As an administrator, her hard work and dedication has brought Lippert's to the high level of teaching and performance that it maintains today, seeing hundreds of students per week with professional, specialist teachers an integral part of the school. That commitment spawned the East York Music Festival in order to further inspire local performance opportunities for budding musicians. Charleen is very community minded and is a Board Member of the Pape Village Business Improvement Area.

His contributions to the festival have lead to increased sponsorship, overall rebranding and restructuring, and increased scholarship funding for performers. He continues to push for more sponsorship and increased scholarships as a way to reward performers for their hard work and dedication to perfecting their crafts.
